Fisherman's Picnic

Come and experience the annual Fisherman’s Picnic, a 4 day event held the first weekend in August. Fisherman’s Picnic offers a variety of fun and activities for the whole family. Do some shopping and browse around at the Craft show for unique handmade items. Bring your appetite and participate in one of the food eating contests or try a famous Fishburger (breaded, deep fried Lake Superior Herring on a bun). For the more competitive, participate in one of the many tournaments. Some of the events during the festival require a Fisherman’s Picnic Button in order to participate. Enjoy watching the fireworks display over the Harbor on Lake Superior. On Sunday afternoon, enjoy watching the Fisherman’s Picnic Parade through Grand Marais. Be sure to pick up a detailed schedule with all of the events at the Visitors Center.
